Imagine being offered a deep, refreshing fountain of living water, only to walk away and try to drink out of a cracked, broken concrete puddle. It sounds completely absurd, yet spiritually, that is exactly what happens every time we drift into temptation.

This Sunday, we are reaching the grand finale of our series, The Anatomy of Sin, as we study the final two verses of the letter: 1 John 5:20–21.

In Lesson #4: The Final Landing Point, we are going to look at the ultimate defense Christ has given us against a world of spiritual drift. Pulling in powerful supportive truths from Jeremiah, Proverbs, and Colossians, we will unpack:

1. The Safe House (Verse 20): What it means to be anchored in "Him who is true." In a culture built on illusions, Christ introduces us to ultimate, unchanging Reality (Jeremiah 10:10).

2. The Counterfeit Alert (Verse 21): Why John abruptly ends his profound letter with the sudden command to avoid idols. We will look at Jeremiah’s famous imagery of "broken cisterns" (Jeremiah 2:13) and see how modern idols like greed, control, and approval secretly try to drain our devotion (Colossians 3:5).

3. The Active Guard: Learning how to phylaxate—to station a guard or garrison over our hearts (Proverbs 4:23) against the subtle spiritual viruses of our culture.
